Dear Friends and Supporters of TV Booster:

It's been a long year for the TV Booster. We've had to learn how to "hurry up and wait" to begin digital television translator service in the Indian Wells Valley. But as of last month, we finally began by making five digital television channels available from Laurel Mountain. KNBC-DT offers their main programming in high definition plus two sub-channels: Weather Plus, a 24-hour weather channel, and RawNews, showing 24-hour un-edited NBC news footage. KTLA-DT offers their main programming in high definition plus one sub-channel: The Tube, a 24-hour commercial-free music video channel.

The next two digital stations the TV Booster will flash cut will most likely be KABC-DT and KCET-DT. Some work remains to improve their reception to the point where the signals are completely stable. Check our website, iwvtvbooster.org, to see when we've made them available. Our website also has information on what antennas and hardware you'll need to watch our digital television signals from Laurel Mountain and what you'll need to do to keep receiving analog television signals from "B" Mountain. Public internet terminals are available at the public library.

Our FM radio services have also continued to improve as the TV Booster has identified and fixed problems in it's translators, and has continued building FM antenna arrays to work around interference caused by new stations and old stations increasing their radiated power.

Finally, the TV Booster receives a lot of comments about adding back the channels we had to sell to fund its digital transition. There are a number of additional digital channels we can receive well on Laurel Mountain and we are in the process of filing digital companion channels for the translators on "B" Mountain. Converting our current eight channels to digital has just about depleted our funds and we'll need to purchase new digital translators in order to put additional digital channels on the air. Now, more than ever, the TV Booster needs our community to donate to make that happen.

So do help with a donation to keep the TV Booster broadcasting to the Indian Wells Valley. We mail this newsletter only once each year to get the lowest bulk mailing rate. So, if you have already sent a donation, we thank you for your support. Your donations are essential and are very much appreciated.
